Things to Remember while Maintaining your Chainsaw
Here are a few guidelines you should follow to keep your chainsaw in good shape:
1.Clean the filter
Before you start using your chainsaw, check its air filter. Don’t use it if the filter is dirty. Take the time to clean it before you put it back into the chainsaw. If it seems too damaged and you can’t clean it properly, get it replaced with a new filter.
2.Check for loose parts
Due to the vibration of the engine, certain screws and bolts might become loose, make sure to keep a check and tighten them before using the chainsaw.
3.Switch the bar
Turn the chainsaw bar for better wear, every time you use it. Clean the bar groove and check if the lubrication hole has any inconsistencies. Lack of lubrication can lead to more friction and damage the chain.
4.Assess the trigger
If the throttle trigger sticks and doesn’t function smoothly, you need to get it serviced. Also, if your chainsaw has been sitting idle for some time, it is advised to get it serviced before you start using it again.
5.Look out for the clutch
Get the cover off the chainsaw and get the spring, clutch drum and center of the clutch checked for safety and easy usage.
6.Examine the wiring
Make sure all the cables, wires and plugs are connected well. Errors and glitches here can be pretty dangerous and it’s best to take some extra time and ensure everything is in place. As they say, prevention is always better than the cure!
